Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

12A – FIGURING OUT BUYER BEHAVIOR NO. 1

Segment:
The segment I chose to focus on was the educational part of the service. My interviews will be with one professor that I know that teach an agriculture class within the university of Florida. One teacher that oversees FFA at my former high school and teaches animal sciences. The last one is a teacher that doesn't teach agriculture but is experienced with traveling around state to different schools to teach.

-Professor in UF: I interviewed this professor before for a previous blog, so they had a bit of an understanding when I interviewed them again. I told them about my idea of creating a program that was creating to help people understand agriculture. They told that although the idea it self is a good, but the problem was that no one would be willing to listen. The agriculture industry has been open about what happens in the farms for a long time, yet people still are quick to see the bad side.

-Teacher that's in FFA: I interviewed my previous high school animal sciences teacher because they were one who taught most of what I know now. I told them about the idea of the program and they said that because of other programs like FFA and 4-H it would be hard to get my program noticed. That since the other programs are so much older people will more inclined to chose those programs over mine.

-Traveling Teacher: This teacher is someone I knew from high school and still had the contact information for them. I told them about the program idea and they told me they like the idea. They also told me it would require a lot of dedication before I would actually see any success for the program.

Report: I see that the program is a good idea on paper but in reality there is a large chance that the program will fail.

Conclusion: After all the interviews I see that the program would be a lot of work due to other programs that is like it. The program will not have the support of the history behind it like FFA or    4-H. I still see there may be a possible future but it will need work and time.

  1. Gerielle,
Your interviews touched on a wide range of perspectives that really helped hone the potential of your proposal. I am surprised that one teacher said that there would not be enough interest in the subject, I would encourage you to not be discouraged by that because in my opinion there are many people who would be of interest. Many are just trying to figure out what most aligns with their moral compass and we all need reliable information to make informed decisions about our lifestyle.

  2. There are many people who are interested in the reality of farming, but like your interviewees said they may be more closed minded than they realize because of previous documentaries. Perhaps what your program needs is a viral documentary or social media posts that will begin to open the eyes of the general public. It is very easy to succumb to crazy statistics and conspiracy theories, but people really do want to believe the best. Your program could definitely help them do that!
