11A – IDEA NAPKIN NO. 1
1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
-My name is Gerielle Suffy. I am a student with the intended major of Animal Sciences. I have don't know if I have any talents. I have an experience with agriculture because in high school I was in club called FFA, which essentially taught me the basics of agriculture. That cause me to want to learn more and that's why I applied to UF. The business would play a major role in my life because I would like my career, that will probably be in the food industry, not under a bad light of society.
2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
-My service is providing information about the agriculture industry that people didn't know about or chose not to learn. The unmet need is that a lot of people don't know much about agriculture and my service is there to fix that.
3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
-The information is mainly targeted to students since they are still retaining information on a daily basis. All of the customers would be people who are willing to learn more about how their food gets to their plate.
4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable in so far as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
-The customers who are interested in the service should care about their food and what goes into making it. They would want a service that can help them better understand their food just a bit more.
5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
-What sets my service apart from everyone else is that it is for everyone who is interested in it, it's not just for kids.
I believe each of the elements shows the core message that I want the service to be. Although I do know that they don't match up entirely in the way I want them to be. There is still some details that need adjusted to make the end service better. After some tweaking I believe the service could help people in the future (if I do make it real).

Gerielle,
ReplyDeleteThis is a super cool and important cause. I like how your service is open to the public and not just for children because it is important to educate everyone on this issue. Especially, with it being so personal because it involves lifestyle dietary choices. There is also a lot of information that claims that consuming animal products is detrimental to one's health so it is good to balance the flow of information with the other side.
Hey Gerielle,
ReplyDeleteI like how you combined your personal values and interests with this business opportunity. You seem to be sure of your targeted market and that is awesome! I like the fact that you want to target students because we are constantly learning daily – very smart! It is also great that you recognize that those that will benefit from this are those that are willing to put in the effort and want to learn about their food.
