Solving The Problem

8A- SOLVING THE PROBLEM

Thanks to the interviews of the previous blog I came up with the idea of creating a program that educate the youth about the animal industry and help debunked the myth like 4-H and FFA

Depending on where you are from, you probably have a good understanding of the agriculture as a whole. But there are those who live in urban areas and they don't have the same opportunity to understand about the animal industry like those in the rural areas. I think the program could good for the youth to learn and understand who is in charge of producing their food.

There is only a couple of versions of the program:

  • The first one is that it's a traveling program that visiting allowing schools to teach the students about the food they eat. It could last a couple of lessons that last a few weeks, so it could get the students interested in animals.
  • The second one is that its an extension program that starts a club in interested schools and that has students engaging in agriculture. It has field trips that give the students a more hands on experience on the animal industry.
I want to create a program that helps people understand animal industry and try to have them not believe the propaganda that they hear from companies that feed them lies. Through this program I hope everyone will understand the importance of the agriculture industry. And with that the animal industry will no longer under scrutiny of society.

I think people will want this program because everyone wants to know about everything something they don't. So a program all about the truth on the industry is a good idea that should be made.

  1. Hi Gerielle!
I think this idea would be very good and beneficial for our youth! I wish that I had been more educated on this topic as well. I feel like as children people are more susceptible to believe everything they hear about certain topics whether it is true or not. However, with hands on experience children are able to form their own opinion and become educated on the topic themselves.

  2. Gerielle,
This is a super cool idea that seems fulfilling on multiple accounts. Good education will always be an unmet customer need. With a completely new form of getting information (internet) taking over the way that we learn, it will be crucial to educate people on how to sort through credible information. I know a lot of schools are starting to emphasize research and credible source information courses. A specialized group such as you are proposing seems like a great idea.

  3. Hey Gabrielle,
After viewing your previous post, I still think this is a big problem and your solution would help solve the problem. I've also noticed a growing trend in 'getting to know your food' in certain types of media. One example of this is HTME on YouTube, who makes everything from scratch. I've always found it interesting how things go from raw material to finished product, so this would've definitely interested me as a kid
